Let's Hear it for the Bun

Pigtails and braids are classic little girl hairstyles, but there's just something about a bun that makes me smile - especially when it's my little girl.

Yesterday was the first time I'd ever put Nadia's hair up in a bun, and oh. my. gosh!!! I thought I was going to pass out from the cuteness.

(even if it does make her look a bit too grown up...who is that poised, elegant little lady?!)

Another good thing about buns: even I can create a pretty darn good looking one. This is significant for someone like me who is all thumbs when it comes to hair. AND, Nadia's hair stayed up and neat all day. Three cheers for the bun!

Oh, and the reason she wanted a bun in the first place? It had to do with being a princess, of course. She usually selects either Aurora or Snow White as the princess of the day, but yesterday she chose Mulan and asked that her hair be UP like hers. Mulan - that's the first thing you think when you see a bun, right???

The outfit is totally her own creation too. She's such a little fashion stylist.

Yeoww! She really does look more grown up, almost ballerina-esque, with her bun. And her ensemble? Lovely. :)

That bun is just the cutest thing ever! Amanda often asks for a "bun" too.. but I have no clue how to do it.

I should go looking for a tutorial online. I'm all thumbs too!

Her little wispy curls are the best part of it. Sweet.

I *love* the bun. I wear my hair like that ALL the time ~ and did a LOT when I was in high school. I prefer my hair up. LOVE the scrunchie ~ blue is my favorite! I wish that 1) Meredith had enough hair to do that, and 2) that she wouldn't rip stuff out of her hair!!! Gorgeous photos as always.

I used to wear my hair up like that ALL the time when my hair was long. The bun look is very nice on Nadia. And yes it does make her look even more grown up.

I love her bun. I think they are a great style to wear too. There is something classical and elegant about a bun. Such a cutie with all her hair pulled back too. :)

Again, I just LOVE the little curl on the side of her face in the first shot. So delicate and girly! Great capture in the last shot with her smelling the flower. All those leaves add so much to the shot. Isnt it fun having a little girl! :0)

BE.STILL.MY.BEATING.HEART.

She looks like a teenager. Not what you wanted to hear, I know, but the truth, nonetheless.

I've missed you. How are you?
