Nadia fell asleep in the car Saturday afternoon on the way back from the mall. I'm usually leery of late naps, but the kid desperately needed sleep so we decided to just let her sleep as long as she wanted. Naps are rare these days, and it's even more rare for her to survive the transfer from the car, so I didn't expected it to last long.

Well, it was about 4:45 as I carried her in and laid her on our bed...and she was still sleeping as hubby and I ate dinner and caught up on a few tv shows (anyone watch the pilot of the new show Royal Pains? I liked it!). Five o'clock...seven o'clock....nine o'clock - was she really going to sleep straight through the night?! I knew I was playing a dangerous game, but I crossed my fingers and hoped. I sorta won the bet - she slept until 4 in the morning. After that...well, my Facebook friends can tell you what happened then. ;o)

I could look at pictures of my sleeping girl all day long and never tire of it - there's nothing sweeter. The opportunities for sleeping pic are less common these days, so I couldn't resist snapping a few shots of her when we turned in for the night. Other than elbows in my face and knees in my stomach, I really do love snuggling up to my girl all night long.

This last image is my choice for Best Shot Monday. I just love the little slice of life it captures. I love seeing her sprawled across our big bed, sleeping next to her Daddy.
**Update**
I thought everyone could see the Facebook link but apparently not, so here's the picture of the aftermath of Hurricane Nadia.

Her room was utterly trashed....but I think it was worth it for the extra sleep?!
The next half hour was spent cleaning it up together. We're really working on Nadia learning to take care of her things so she can get a big girl room for her birthday. Obviously, it's not going so well.....

oh how I love these photos.
so tell me...the light on in these? She is a sound sleeper. sigh....each one of these is amazing.
Awesome... :) I can't believe she slept that long!!!
And yeah, definitely: the last picture is a keeper.
Oh, I love those shots! And that last one is definitely a "best shot".
I read what "happened later", and I have to vote that her little "mess" was definitely worth a couple hours of sleep. In my house, a well rested mom is a much happier mom.
i wouldn't have been brave enough to let the nap last past dinner! i'm impressed that she stayed asleep that long.
i saw the picture of her mess... bean's room looks like that all the time. we clean and it will last maybe 24 hours tops. she also can't abide cleaning so does whatever she can to avoid it. sigh
love the pictures. nadia is so sweet! :)
She looks like an angel.....but for those of us who do not Facebook...what happened later?
I love these photos! :) SO cute!
I love Daddy hiding behind the book!
I love it when their rooms are all nice and tidy too! But my boys don't...
Lovely shots...
She was definitely pooped out. I love sleeping shots too. I never get a chance to take photos when they are sleeping either.
That choice for 'best shot' is amazing, as are all of the others! My kids can't sleep without total darkness, so even during the daytime naps sleepy time photos are out of the question. She is so lovely! Good luck with that big girl room.
wow - she is a true sleeping beauty! good golly. and your BSM is just perfect. did you just want to curl up on the end of the bed and watch them like that for hours??
and, um...yeah. i remember a very similar morning once with emma - every toy, every drawer...empty. i was so not happy!
How do you take shots of Nadia without the shutter waking her up? Does she just not hear it? Such wonderful lighting. The third shot is so beautiful...the eyelashes, the button nose and he pouty little lips. So sweet. So is sleeping with Daddy. :0) Great perspective.
I will bet that these pictures are more like the 'Eye of a Hurricane'. Things are calm and quiet and it 'seems' like the danger has passed. But that is just a false sense of security. :P
Never let your guard down...
heh, heh. - Pappy
Tee hee. It looks like hubby is hiding from the camera. My hubby does that.
I love her cute lip in the first image.
The whole series is incredibly sweet. =) Nothing like a sleeping child!
Oh goodness! I usually wake them up when it gets to be dinnertime, but I hear you on that need for a nap and SLEEP. Kai is definitely done and Anya hasn't been taking many lately. Even though they really need them!
That whole cleaning up after themselves is a hard one to teach. They are so used to us doing things for them that the thought of them having to do for themselves is quite foreign to them. They eventually learn, though...right?? ;)
YKILT. Boy, she did a number on her room didn't she?! :)
i love the sleepy pictures! your skill is amazing! how is your business going?
These are amazing! I love the one you chose for "Best Shot...".
I like having the angelic pictures around for when we're having one of those special "why shouldn't I leave them on a doorstep" moments!
Also liked Royal Pains!
Miss ya!
Such beautiful pictures of her...
Although that last one, not so pretty! hee hee... She'll get better! : )
Oh I love pictures of when they are sound asleep...she is so precious.
Love the update too...uhhh, ashamed to say my girls room looks like that 95% of the time!
well, one good thing about her sleeping through the evening is getting to get some sleeping pics with some light!!! Sounds like tonight was a bit better? At least if she sleeps to her normal time in the morning...I hope so - today was a long day! I'm TIRED!
I was going to do all kinds of housework getting ready for my company this weekend - but, I'm going to bed EARLY (for me at least)!! Hope you guys get a little relax-around-the-house kinda day tomorrow!!
Wow, I would never have chanced it but that really wasn't bad. She made it a long time.
We battle clean up here all the time. The only real responsibility my girls have is their rooms. I think it's a great lesson.
So sweet! I would say that the mess was worth it...there are few things more precious than a little bit of extra sleep!
