Out with the Old, In with the New

It feels like only yesterday I was standing on the other side of 2008, looking the bright expanse of a fresh new year and imagining what it would hold for my family. And yet here I am looking back on it, wondering how it passed so quickly. The Beatles got it right - "life is what happens while you're busy making other plans!"

'What

I hope that one day I look back on this past year as the start of something big: the birth of my photography career. At the dawn of 2008, I held a brand new DSLR in my hands and the hope of being a better photographer in my heart. Not an honest-to-goodness real photographer - just a better one, just a Mommy taking pictures of her family. I wasn't even thinking about photographing other people. I didn't know that the coming year would hold both my first and my eighteenth photo shoot. I didn't know I'd end the year with a business name, a website, and a new dream becoming reality. Some days I still doubt myself and wonder what I'm playing at...but I'm living my dream, and that's awesome! My biggest goal for 2009 is to build my photography from a part-time business into a lucrative career.

Here's wishing us all a 2009 filled with nothing but the best. Happy New Year!

ringing in the New Year
(yes, that is Boones Farm. Hey, it's what I like and there's nothing wrong with that!)

P.S. I didn't know "out with the old" would include my favorite jeans. Whaaa, I wanna cry. But I guess I shouldn't be all that surprised, since these are my favorite version of the Mommy Uniform and worn practically every day. I've never been a holes-in-the-knees kinda person, but I think that will change now. I can't give them up!

Amazing, looking back isn't it? Nadia has changed so much (just as Harrison has). I was going to post a beginning of the year and end of the year picture of Harrison too, but I never got around to it.

May I still will. As for those jeans, how can you reject the perfect hole in the knee. it's cool! Wear them with worn-in pride, baby!

Congratulations to you on your budding, blooming photography career! I have loved watching your photos over the past...gosh couple of years? maybe? You have always had a great eye and once you got your DSLR, your talent could really take off. I am so excited for you as you start this new venture. And I'm excited to watch you along the way.

And-I have holes in my jeans too! I patched them with iron on patches (on the inside) to last longer and now I'm wearing through the patches. It's a sad state of affairs!

I wish you the very best in 2009, my friend! I know it is going to be a great year for you and your dreams!

And you better not get rid of 'em! We all have at least one pair that we can't part with - my holey ones have a hole in the crotch that hasn't quite worn through yet, so yep - they still get worn!!

Happy New Year!

Yes, isn't it absolutely crazy what a difference a year can make??? Although I want time to often stand still so I can enjoy my little ones as much as possible, I am also so eager to see where we will be next year at this time!!! Great places I hope!!

And I too have a massive hole in my absolutely favorite jeans (that are also a discontinued brand). But I refuse to give them up!

Happy New Year!!

Jeans...I have a pair of those kind, too...2 big holes in the knees, but I think it's rather "cool" actually. ;) That's my excuse to keep them.

I recently developed holes in the knees of my favorite pair, too. I don't care, though. I can't give them up either!

I know you'll do great with your business! You were amazing to work with and any client would be lucky to have you as their photographer.

Happy New Year!
