In the morning we went to the mall. Not because we needed any last-minute gifts; I just felt like going. Crazy, I know. But it actually wasn't too crowded and hectic, and since we went to a different mall than usual Nadia was thrilled to ride a "new whee" (ie, carousel). New pictures of her joy-filled face, as she wanted me to ride with her and Daddy's afraid to touch the fancy new camera! Her other favorite stop was window shopping at the cookie place...cuz what 2 year old doesn't love cookies?! She took one look at them and said "hungry, Mama. Eat cookies now." Ha! Of course, by the time we got over to the food court she had lost all interest in eating since the aforementioned carousel was beckoning.
Back at home we broke out the Wii. Vasily had pre-created our characters - Wii Mii! - and I started cracking up as soon as I saw them - "Vasily" really does look *just like* Vasily! Too funny.
Wow, that bowling is fun stuff!!!! I started out a little shaky, but it didn't take too long for me to find my groove - by the third game, there was only one frame that I didn't get a strike or a spare! Yay, go me! We tried golfing today, tho, and I totally suck at that - I can't even hit the ball half the time!! I guess it's pretty sad, tho, that we're both a little sore today just from that mild exertion, huh? Maybe I should be making some "get in shape" New Years resolutions...
Nadia doesn't need any encouragement with that, though. She served as our energetic cheerleader, somersaults and all. She loved to watch us play kept asking for "more bowl" when we turned it off. She even imitated us, using a wooden block as her controller!
As soon as dusk fell, we carried a pajama'd Nadia to the car and set off for Christmas light viewing. I have wonderful memories of doing this with my family as a child, and was very excited to start the same tradition with my own little one. Nadia loves "cookie lights" (that's what she calls them! Don't ask me why!) so I expected her to be delighted by it...and she probably would have been had she not fallen asleep! Poor girl was exhausted after another day with no nap (she very rarely takes naps anymore...just "rests" in her crib for an hour or so). It was a 15 minute drive to get to the best neighborhood in the area for Christmas lights - the "Interlochen Christmas Display - and by the time we got there she was snoring away. She snoozed for an hour, and then woke up just as we were leaving - crazy kid! Daddy and I still enjoyed it, though. The coolest part was the little scenes set up in some of the windows.

it was like you could have written a post for me this weekend! we did the same things...went to people watch at the mall (fun outdoor mall!) and tonight did a christmas light drive-by with our hot cocoa....mmmm...so fun!
i hope your day tomorrow is great and filled with all the anticipation Christmas brings.
What a wonderful day. Isn't it great to get into holiday mode where you just do all those lovely things you feel like doing without the pressures of last minutes shopping/cooking etcetc. I too loved the Texan Greeting :-)
We did the same things LOL, gotta love those holiday traditions!
We,too, got a Wii for Christmas this year--I'm lovin' the bowling game and a Mario Party 8 game we have! Our hooligans are 14 and 12, you can imagine the riot it is when we all play!!
WhooHoo to the new camera!! I'm in camera-love as well, only I didn't go for an SLR but an Olympus SP 550UZ. As close as I could get to an SLR without dealing with lens changes--I'm not ready for alla that at this point. I, too, am learning about depth of field--amazing stuff, isn't it??
~~Merry Christmas :)
